Studio STAR explores the reinterpretation of an abandoned piece of architecture that uncovers a new form of expression over the existing urban layers of the infamous Star Hotel. Architecture inevitably is capable of representing ideas with spaces through its relation to the context as well as unveil tales and memories within the society. The studio STAR presents an investigation of the Star Hotel ruins that once was known for its sense of belonging among the society attracting odd, egalitarian mix of patrons.
In response to the decaying monument,the project aims to explore the relationship between architectural spaces and events, primarily embracing Newcastle’s potential in creative industries while preserving the essence of Star Hotel’s cultural significance and reinterpreting it to address current social changes.
