“RE: Birth” realises the capabilities of fractured landscapes through the re-occupation of inept industrial artefacts in Catherine Hill Bay, the Wallarah Coal wharf and coal storage bin, deemed for decommissioned and removal in 2018 by the Rose Corp development.
Romanticising of the ruin, a notion toward the ideals of the sublime, positions the project as an arts and cultural precinct merging the barrier between the two disparities – the Australian suburban ideal and the vernacular village.
