In the husk of an underused, inner city multi-storey car park, a Broadcast Campus for the University of Newcastle has been developed.
As information becomes more easily available, universities either need to provide new models for content delivery and education or they will fall behind and become obsolete.
The project explores the option of reusing the parking structure as the bones for a lecture hall, able to record and broadcast information to the world. Also contained within the project are facilities for student accommodation, urban baths and state of the art tertiary teaching and learning spaces. The Broadcast Campus looks to give the University of Newcastle a presence in the historic centre of the city, while enriching the urban fabric of Newcastle by providing life, density and activity.
