A Cultural Playground

The Village Wall: A Cultural Playground seeks to rejuvenate the natural environment, preserve the history of the city and provide new interactive public spaces between existing buildings.
The project is an attempt to celebrate world culture through a vernacular architecture. The transcultural intentions come from Europe, Asia and Middle Eastern influences. The wall connects rather than divides, bridging cultures of the past present and future. It gives the user safety from the noisy street, sheltering above and below and invites the user to venture beyond the wall. The village blurs the distinction between public and private space encouraging diverse social and cultural interactions. The creeks eco-system once again flourishes, mangroves, tea tree and wattle forests breathe new life back into the site.
