The Maitland Community Cultural is a project that aims to improve not only the cultural life of a regional city but also perceives it as an opportunity to improve lifestyles for the locals. The project is driven by the need to connect the city with the might hunter river and also utilize the potential of the river to attract and generate cultural activities and events. The site utilized is the existing river link and the surrounding buildings to recycle and respect the existing heritage artefacts to preserve the memory of the heritage mall. The new facility which includes an extension to the current Dennerley’s leather boutique store with a workshop that provides an opportunity learn the craft of leather making and also a community kitchen that can also be used as culinary school. The project aims to use the river link as a strong threshold that connects the facility and the river with finer grain of the city.
