Hong Kong has one of the highest density population in the world. With limited land, Hong Kong property prices have skyrocketed.

Although the government have been constructing social housings for decades; the building designs show little architectural considerations to orientations, comfort and livelihoods. Another social problem in Hong Kong is that the younger generations have extreme difficulties to afford any sort of housing. Many are forced to stay with their family for extended period of time.

The New Social Estate is a multi-use social complex located in Kai Tak, designed for the younger generations, which provides outdoor spaces and facilities for the greater public.
