PROJECT LOCATION: Parramatta River, Australia
The Parramatta Rivers Edge proposal provides an opportunity for a vibrant cultural destination that will transform the image of the city and re-establish its river identity. The predominant built form along the river frontage does not activate the river foreshore as its aspect is towards Parramatta CBD. Further to this, the existing built form creates an impenetrable blockage to the river that significantly reduces public accessibility.
The proposed scheme creates linkages between the CBD and the river that encourage interaction and crossflow. A central theme of the mixed use proposal is the integration of art and cultural services that act as an urban revitalisation tool. Western Sydney has a burgeoning arts community which the proposed development addresses by providing a multitude of artist and cultural facilities.
