PROJECT LOCATION: Parramatta, Australia
Parramatta is a beautiful city and the second oldest city in NSW. Unfortunately, Paramatta has become secretive with their decisions for the future of the city. Which leads the public to question, if a city is to continue expanding and continue assisting the local community, then why is the local government withholding public information and the right for direct democracy in public meetings?
This project looks at ways that politics can become open and welcoming for the public to be more involved in the development of their city. This was explored, by designing the Council, Council Chambers, Councillors offices & public library facilities, through a marketplace design approach, exposing the decision making process while maintaining the individual’s right to privacy within a building & providing a large courtyard space that allows the public to congregate.
