The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment in the University of Newcastle is one of the leading faculties of its kind in Australia. As the students and staffs of the faculty are increasing in a positive pace, better facilities and more spaces are needed to accommodate individuals.
The concept of the proposed habitable bridge is to reconnect the lost connection between Architecture and Engineering schools while also rejuvenating the bush land area (Scobie Heath) next to the Engineering precinct.
By proposing the habitable bridge, students and staffs from the faculty will be able to freely access the faculty areas and collaborate with each other to improve and broaden their horizons in the field of Engineering and the Built Environment while also providing views on the bridge. The proposed bridge will house administration and offices, classrooms, café and bar, resource centre, discussion areas, public area for seating and relaxing.
