PROJECT LOCATION: Collins Street, Melbourne
The Vertical University (Raffles Institute of Design) is a project that seeks to rethink and to explore the ways learning is experienced and delivered in a vertical university in order to reflect the relevant radical changes in the design of the educational spaces in the 21st century. Recent research and discussions into the design of the learning environment; one that is moving away from the traditional approach to a student centred approach. This project starts off by looking into the Raggio Emilia approach of learning philosophy, where a shared learning environment is used to encourage students to develop their knowledge, experience, skills and personal growth in the company of their peers. From this, key ideas are explored and developed as a way to achieve a shared learning environment with a vertical university.
