LOCATION: Newcastle, Australia
The relocation of Newcastle University’s architecture faculty into Newcastle CBD is located adjacent to the civic park and the University House. The programs include library, architecture studio, auditorium, classrooms, and student accommodation. This project aims to investigate how learning spaces can be extended outside the typical classroom and engage more with the environment and the city, and not just be a standalone educational facility.
The proposed CBD campus also explores the program distribution in a typical architecture school. Conventionally, programs are distributed horizontally layer by layer. This proposed campus aims to explore the vertical distribution of the architecture school program to maximise the vertical adjacencies.
